After spending three weeks working for The Heritage Foundation tracking the miles of red tape that spew out of regulatory bureaucracies each day, I think the following video is appropriate:
If I had the time, an audio studio, and the right software, he’d be saying, “Federal agencies are going to nail that entrepreneur with restrictions when he tries to start a business. Unfortunately, I don’t, so you’ll have to use your imagination.
As light-hearted as the above video may be, federal regulations are a major drain on our economy. Each year, unelected bureaucrats shackle American businesses with about 4,000 new rules. The cumulative weight amounted to an astounding 1.75 Trillion dollars annually in 2008, and the federal register has only grown since then. Said another way, without federal regulations, we’d actually be able to pay for Obama’s unhealthy spending binge and still have money left over for ice cream.
I hope you’ll take the time to read the Red Tape Rising report once it’s released next month. In the meantime, please check out “Tales of the Red Tape,” a blog series documenting the most egregious and most ridiculous regulations foisted onto the American people by the regulatory state.
